We wanted to let you know that we will be performing scheduled maintenance on the cabinet where your server is located next Friday, May 27th, starting at approximately 2:00PM CST. We have allocated a 3 hour window for the work to be completed, during which each server will have to come offline for a short period of time.
Why are we doing this?
We are upgrading the cabinet infrastructure to provide faster, more reliable services. This includes updating power distribution units and network ports.
What is the impact?
We will have to power down each server for a short period of time while we switch out the various cabinet hardware. We anticipate the total downtime for each server won't be any longer than 30 minutes. Rest assured your data will be safe, but please plan for this downtime as any work you are in the middle of and don't have saved when the server is powered down may be lost.
How long will it take?
As outlined a bit above, the whole process should be complete within 3 hours. We understand this isn't the ideal time to have server outages but unfortunately this upgrade requires a network technician to be there, and they are not available during overnight hours. We will work as quickly as possible to minimize the towntime.
We appreciate your understanding and apologize if this causes any inconveneince. As always, if you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out. - Date - 05/27/2016 14:00 - 05/27/2016 18:00
