A top-level domain (TLD) is the last part of a domain name, that is, the group of letters at the farthest right following the last dot in the domain name. For example, in mydomain.com, the top-level domain is com. Top-level domains can be based either on the organization type (.com, .org, .info, etc.) or on a country code (.us, .jp, .ru, etc.).
